SUMMER sun gave winter fun – and eight-year-old Joe Whitworth, pictured – an extra glow at Eureka this weekend.
To celebrate the end of the July Project the children's museum shipped in 20 tons of real snow to create a toboggan run right next to the museum's inland beach.

Nina Rogers, of Eureka, said it had been a great success. "It was a special way to end two special weeks," she said.

See more pictures of the Eureka event in our summer fun spread in Tuesday's Courier, which will also include Mytholmroyd Gala, People's Park Festival and Live 'Eath.

Snow in July.... Great idea to waste money, I think the money could of been invested in something a little more permanent.................

It was invested in something permanent - good memories for happy kids.

I'd say why not wait til winter but knowing our weather it would probably be 30 degrees c.

Everythings a waste of money to someone, and a valid investment for someone else. Seems to me if its for something worthwhile (the kids) then why not?

Its not like the billion pounds we spend keeping smokers alive every year - now that I would say is a waste of money.

Glad it was a good weekend for a project like this too, could have easily been spoilt by the rain we've been getting lately!

Rule of thumb: If someone doesn't know "could have" from "could of", the comment will be stupid.

Halifax Local - with the greatest of respect but it seems that nobody in this area can do anything right!! They give the kids something to do that's fun and entertaining and you're complaining!! I agree with the other comments here because next you'll be complaining that kids are running riot in the streets because they have nothing to do - for goodness sake, it was obviously good fun - LIGHTEN UP!!!!
