HAS Calderdale got talent?
Budding West End stars can find out if they have stage potential when a musical director holds a workshop as part of this year's July Project.

Tony Castro, who has worked on the Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon and other productions, will give an auditioning masterclass on Saturday, July 5, at the Square Chapel, Halifax.

The July Project, Calderdale's only festival for children and young people, will host more than 100 events from music and dance to sports, drama and art for a fortnight from July 1.

Castro's evening masterclass will conclude with a day of activities with the London-based National Youth Music Theatre, whose graduates include Blue Peter's Konnie Huq and film actor Jude Law.

Teenagers can develop their singing, acting and dancing skills from 10am to 4pm. From 7pm to 9.30pm Castro will give tips on auditions.

Tickets from the National Youth Music Theatre workshop are £20 each. Masterclass tickets are £2 for under-20s. To book, call 01422 349422.
