Mixenden Juniors held a family fun day to let people know about the club.

After a mini-soccer tournament there was time for fun on a bouncy castle and jousting, with stalls, games and a raffle.

The day, at Mixenden Outdoor Activity Centre, was sponsored by the Mixenden Initiative. Mel Foulds, fund-raising co-ordinator for Crossley Juniors, said: "We are trying to raise awareness of Mixenden Juniors and trying to get the kids active in grass-roots football.

"It was more about raising awareness than raising money, and getting the children of Mixenden involved in sports again. Sport is all about teaching kids discipline and structure and we believe it gets them more equipped with social skills."

It was more mental agility than physical agility at the Old Crossleyans fun day. The event, at Skircoat Green, supported by Nestle, had a well-stocked sweet stall and giant games such as family favourites Jenga and Connect Four.
