ASSISTANT coach Damian Ball believes Halifax's crafty playmakers will revel in the wide open spaces of the Willows on Friday night.
Table-topping Fax, looking to open a four point gap at the top of National League One, will go head to head with second placed Salford on one of the broadest playing surfaces in the professional game.
And Ball reckons Matt Calland's side, who have scored almost 400 points so far - more than 100 more than Shaun McRae's big-spending title favourites - have "a few tricks" up their sleeve to try and exploit the extra space.
"It's a really big, wide field and that is going to influence the way the game is played," said Ball.
"They have a lot of flair players in Robbie Paul and Richie Myler, and Malcolm Alker at hooker, but we have some threats of our own.
"We are not top of the scoring charts for nothing, and we have a lot of attacking options who will look forward to playing on a pitch like that.
"Sean Penkywicz will be a real threat; Ben Black really came good on Sunday; Tom Coyle is a really good player; Graham Holroyd played at Salford for a few years.
"I am sure we will have a few tricks up our sleeves come Friday night.
"Top versus second is always going to be a titanic clash, these are the games everyone wants to be involved in."
Fax boss Calland looks likely to be selecting from strength ahead of the trans-Pennine trip, with prop Dana Wilson - who missed the weekend's 38-14 win over Whitehaven with a knee injury picked up in training on Saturday morning - the only obvious fitness concern.
And veteran loose forward Ball, currently sidelined after undergoing major shoulder surgery, admits the coaching staff have a major selection dilemma after the performances of 20 year old on loan forwards Mark Flanagan and Joe Walsh against the Cumbrians.
"There had been a few comments from the Whitehaven camp about the loan signings destabilising the team and I think the performance answered those questions," said Ball. "We knew the quality we were getting when we signed Mark Flanagan from Wigan.
"We knew he had a good coaching pedigree having worked with Brian Noble over the last few years.
"We were quite excited about the prospect of watching him and if you look at his second try, the pass to Jon Goddard and the way he backed up on the inside, it was superb.
"Joe Walsh's workrate was outstanding, he does a lot of the stuff nobody sees, the stuff the other players appreciate.
"He is not the biggest guy in terms of front rowers, but he does have a presence and he really put himself about defensively.
"With the young players you always get that enthusiasm and the desire to put themselves about.
"It's certainly given us a big selection headache."
Match action is available thanks to the co-operation of Halifax Rugby League Club, which is working closely with the Courier to help provide an excellent RL service in the paper and online this season.
Leeds prop forward Nick Scruton has been handed a three-match ban after being sent off for a "spear" tackle during his side's 26-12 defeat by St Helens.
Scruton was found guilty of a dangerous throw on Saints hooker Keiron Cunningham when he appeared in front of the Rugby Football League's disciplinary committee.
