M62 reopens after police respond to concerns for a woman

Part of the M62 motorway was closed after police received reports of concern for the welfare of a woman.

The eastbound carriageway between junction 21 and junction 22 was closed due to a police led incident Highways England has confirmed.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 7.20am on Thursday 13 August 2020, police were called to reports of concern for the welfare of a woman on a bridge over the M62."

North West Motorway Police confirmed on social media the incident has now concluded and the road is re-open.

The person involved has been taken by ambulance to receive further support and care said the force.
