Volunteers working to transform a play area got their bin bags out for a spring clean.
The area around Calder Holmes Park in Hebden Bridge was cleared of litter and spruced up with plants by the members of Scout Road Community Group.

A £100,000 project is planned for the area which will see new play equipment installed as well as coloured safety surfacing and a flower bed along the riverside.

Gayle Appleyard, chairwoman of the community group, said: "It's a really good resource for local children.

"Few of the houses have large gardens so this is somewhere where they can come out to play."
