THE Shibden Princess, Pride of Halifax and Floating Crumpet will be officially launched at Shibden Park lake tomorrow.
They are among a fleet of 20 new boats that are part of the £4 million estate improvement scheme. The names have been chosen by members of the public.

A unveiling ceremony takes place at 2pm and the winners will be given a certificate and a free ride.

Brendan Mowforth, Calderdale parks chief, said: "I am delighted to launch the new rowing boats and see the transformation of the boathouse and lake. I look forward to seeing the completed restoration of Shibden."

One of the boats has been named Rex 1, after the fleet concessionaire Rex Lawson.

The other winning names are Lady of the Lake, Dotty Splash, Shibden Pride, Beacon's Shadow, Bluebell, Happy Days, Lister Legacy, Jewel of the Valley, Larkin About, Alicia's Dream, Lister Belle, The Ark, Lovely Linda, Savile Row, Jemima Puddle-duck and the Godley Cutter.

Well I mean,

What a name, but I've floated on one two other bits of crumpet around Shibden in the past, but I have been known to sew the odd wild oat.
