A HUSBAND accused of attacking his wife narrowly avoided being locked up after repeatedly trying to contact her while on bail.
Wayne Allen, 37, phoned and texted wife Ros after the alleged attack at their home in Denfield Avenue, Ovenden, Halifax – despite magistrates banning him from having any contact with her.

He admitted breaching bail at Calderdale Magistrates Court.

Andy Wills, prosecuting, said Allen, who is also accused of criminal damage, was first arrested on October 9.

"But almost straight after being released he phoned her, then texted her twice more."

Allen, whose bail conditions also included not going within 100 yards of the couple's Halifax home and living at Springhead Road, Bradford, was re-arrested on October 12.

Iftikhar Ahmed, for Allen, said: "He was only getting in touch because he wanted to see his daughter but he now accepts he should have gone through legal channels."

Magistrates released him after a night in the cells but warned a repeat offence would result in him being remanded in custody until his next court appearance on October 24.
