Beechwood Crescent,
Sowerby Bridge.
WHAT a brilliant letter by Anthony Power ("Cheap shop, cheap shot", Your say, June 21) about Verity Tingle's remarks on the closure of the Home Bargains store, which was not a pound shop ("We don't need these cheap shops", June 14). He certainly hit the nail on the head.

When my daughter and I visited Halifax recently we had coffee in the cafe opposite. Many people who went to the store and went away shaking their heads were obviously very disappointed that the store had closed.
We have some excellent stores in town and at least we support our town.
(Mrs) M. Elwin
