Greenfield Close,
Northowram,
Halifax.
HOW dare Dom Turner make the blanket statement that people who shop in Halifax have no class ("Our town is way behind", Your say, June 26).
I and, I am sure, many other people were incensed by his disgusting comments.
I am well over 35 and one of the hundreds who shop in Halifax and I do have class, despite what Dom Turner may think. His remarks were way out of order.
As for charity shops, why is it that most of these make money, albeit not large amounts, but enough to help the charities they support? Could it have something to do with the economic climate?
Dom Turner obviously does not have to count the pennies.
Would it be better to have these shops empty for months and months and then end up with windows full of flyposters or graffiti? I think not.
There may be a lack of designer shops in Halifax but come on, Mr Turner, the majority of Halifax citizens neither want nor can afford to buy at such an establishment.
Now there is an opportunity for you to start your own business. Maybe the 21-to-35-year-olds will soon flock through your door.
(Mrs) R. Mawdsley

Perhaps the reason Charity Shops make a profit is because they don't pay the volunteers?
