I TAKE strong exception to Donald Leach's remarks about Sarah Brown's appearance before her husband's Conference speech
(Your say, September 27, "Sarah tops the props"). There is no analogy between children and a wife where political appearances are concerned. I myself was honoured by my wife's platform presence at my Morecambe eve of poll meeting in 1958. Spouses are, or should be, mutually supportive and they usually (although not always) concur on what seems best for the nation and the world.
Jennie Lee and Nye Bevan are perhaps the most famous party duo of my lifetime.
Sarah, though less public, is a respected and honourable woman.
Let's have no more of the "sick-bag language", please! It demeans the writer more than his target.
