I would like to reply to Sandy Mitchell "Where are all the poppy jars" (Your say, October 9).

First the British Legion issue poppies in what is called Remembrance Tide. This is the two weeks before Remembrance Sunday.

This year it is on November 9. We can only issue them in this period.
The Poppy Appeal Launch locally is on October 24 at Halifax Town Hall at 11am. District branches have set areas to supply with poppies and collection boxes.

So, it will be Sowerby Bridge and District for your address.
Let me assure Sandy Mitchell that at every meeting of the Royal British Legion branches, all service personnel are remembered with The Exhortation "They shall grow not old. We will remember them" and the Kohima address.

May I add that on Saturday, October 25, our local regiment, the 3rd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment, The Dukes will march through Halifax at 2.30pm. So turn up and show your support and pride in our soldiers, the best in the world.

Bill Munroe
