Animals should stay in the wild

GRAHAM Fusco's letter headlined "Circus super show" (Your say, June 23), states the animals at Circus Mondao looked well fed and looked after.
Zebras are herd animals in their natural habitat. They like to wander hundreds of miles.
The tricks they do come from training. These animals can't tell anyone if they enjoy it or not because they can't speak.
I wonder how happy Mr Fusco would be if someone kept him tethered up and trained him to stand on his head a couple of times a day for a banana. These animals should be and deserve to be in the wild.
The best circus now is at Blackpool; it no longer has any animals at all.
In the past I have watched elephants falling on the roads at Blackpool in transit.
I have seen film of a woman severely hitting a monkey because it didn't want to get into its 4ft square cage, well fed or not.
As long as the public pays to watch wild animals circus owners will continue to use them, when it isn't necessary to produce a good show like Black- pool's.
