SOUL sensation Alexander O'Neal is to star at a concert in Calderdale tomorrow in aid of three charities.
The event, at the Victoria Theatre, Halifax, has been organised by Calderdale friends Hannah Cygan Wrobleski, Lisa Roberts and Kate Hardcastle, who will also be belting out soul sounds on the stage.

The trio held a charity Soul and Motown Revue last year which raised awareness and funds for the Halifax Stroke Club and Stroke Association, The Next Step Trust and Breast Cancer Care charities.

It was such a success that, delighted with the response and support they received, they have decided to do it again – this time for the RSPCA, The Samaritans and Endometriosis UK.

The three childhood chums, who used to be in a band and sang together as teenagers, got back together last year to celebrate their 30th birthdays. As The Dreamgirls Yorkshire and Friends, they organised last year's sell-out revue at which legendary soul singer Martha Reeves headlined after flying in from Detroit, which Kate said was "an amazing honour".

Marketing expert Kate added: "We will be eternally grateful to Ms Reeves and her wonderful manager, Dundee. We could not have done this event without the love and support of our family and friends."

Also on the bill again this year are the Soul and Motown Allstars, who are made up of nine of Yorkshire's best known musicians who have worked with Corinne Bailey Rae and Mark Ronson, among others. There are still some tickets for the 2008 Halo Charity Soul and Motown Revue left at £10 and £15, available from the Victoria Theatre box office, tel: 01422 351158.
