FORMER Queens player Nick Matthew is through to the third round of the Hi-Tec World Open Squash Championships in Manchester.
The eighth seed defeated Australian Stewart Boswell 11-9 11-6 11-9 in 46 minutes at Sportcity yesterday.
Third seed James Willstrop took 49 minutes to dispose of Scotland's John White 11-2 3-11 12-10 11-9 while Adrian Grant needed just under an hour to get past the challenge of Mexican qualifier Jorge Isaac Baltazar Ferreira 12-10 11-2 11-13 11-2.
There was disappointment for three time British champion Lee Beachill who crashed out to Italy's Davide Bianchetti.
The number 13 seed lost 11-9 11-6 10-12 13-11 in a clash that lasted a marathon 80 minutes.
In the first round of the women's competition, Queens player Madeline Perry, seeded 14, beat Egypt's Engy Kheirallah 6-11 11-8 13-11 11-5 in 72 minutes.
