Malton & Norton 8 Heath 50
A POWERFUL team effort from Heath saw them totally outclass the home side and stroll to an impressive Yorkshire One victory.
They dominated throughout against a side who were in North East Two just three years ago to delight coach Kevin Plant and provide plenty of encouragement for the supporters for the rest of the campaign.
Ashley Baxendale came in on the wing for Mark Johnson with Mick Piper back at inside centre and fellow returnee Chris Merrick on the bench, and a reshuffled visiting side were pushed back in the early stages by a big Malton pack.
But they survived the storm and good work by James and Eddie Blackmore set up Mick Piper for a perfectly weighted kick to the corner and after some fine back play, Matt Baxendale was released for a try which opened the scoring after only five minutes.
Two minutes later, another Piper kick through was collected by full back Si Brown who released Alistair Gordon to sprint over for a fine score under the posts which Ryan Piper converted.
Malton kept battling and got on the board 10 minutes later with a penalty, but the West Vale men immediately countered when Jarrod Morris broke from the halfway line and though he was held just short, he set up Brown to go over with Piper again converting.
Heath shrugged off the loss of influential backrower Eddie Blackmore through injury on the half hour to extend their lead when a great move ended with the Piper brothers combining to release Ashley Baxendale for a Piper converted try.
Malton just couldn't cope with the visitors' pace and commitment and following more flowing play, Ian Downsborough powered over, Piper's conversion sending Heath in 33-3 to the good.
And they kept up the good work after the break as from the restart, Olly Wilby gathered and great play with Gordon in support, released Matt Baxendale for a converted try.
The home side were now offering little threat and good work by Downsborough released Baxendale for his hat trick on the hour.
Malton managed to reply with an unconverted try but Heath maintained their dominance and Baxendale applied the finishing touch with his fourth try to complete a great afternoon's work.
