They looked to be coasting to victory at 22-8 but the All Blacks cut the lead to two points with two converted tries and it took a late Martin Scrimshaw try to clinch the win.
Defences were on top for 10 minutes before Crigglestone took an 8-0 lea
d, Tommy Malyan kicking a penalty for holding down and then converting Lyle Johnson's fine try.
With Scrimshaw to the fore, Siddal were soon back in the game. Paul Long sent winger Alan Ormanroyd in at the corner and on 30 minutes seasonal debutant Johnny Lawless rounded the full-back and Shaun Blackburn converted for 8-10.
Five minutes later sublime work from Darren Phillips enabled Blackburn to outpace the home defence and the scorer's kick made it 16-8 at half time, Chris Brook having been caught on the try line after regathering his own kick.
Impressive new signing John Birt stretched Siddal's lead six minutes into the second half, Blackburn converting, and home hopes appeared to have perished midway through the period when a winger had a rush of blood and was dismissed for attempting to head butt the industrious Scrimshaw.
However, Martin Tilford and Johnson scored in the space of four minutes and the conversions put the outcome in doubt until Scrimshaw scooted over from acting half back.
