HALIFAX Vandals' home EDF Junior Vase first round tie against Knaresborough fell victim to the weather and will now be played next Saturday.
The second XV did get a game in, going down 16-17 to visitors Halifax Vikings in a close run Yorkshire Four merit game.
The only score of the first half was a try set up by some excellent support play from Vandals fly-half Shane Lewis and some strong running by captain Brett Swiffen which allowed prop Danny Jones to score in the right hand corner, Lewis converting.
The second half saw the Vandals continue where they left off and a Lewis penalty on 46 minutes stretched their lead.
The Vikings opened their account on 54 minutes with a converted try and they crossed again on 58 minutes with the converson putting them ahead for the first time.
Vandals regained the lead with a penalty but despite superb last ditch defence by Swiffen, Jones, Carrington and inside centre Chris Camplin, Vikings' late pressure told with a successful penalty kick which proved to be the clincher.
Heath's friendly at Aldwinians and Old Crossleyans' pre season game at Blackburn both fell victim to the weather, while Old Brodleians' first team had no game scheduled.
