DEFYING difficult conditions, Brods produced their best performance of the season to see off a fancied Bridlington side which has invested heavily in overseas talent this season.
They were dominant from the start and fully deserved a win which puts them in good heart for next week's trip to Bradford Salem with whom they share leadership of the Yorkshire One table.

With a strong wind at their backs, Brods immediately took the game to their visitors and the pressure told on 12 minutes when Aaron Fowler converted from a central position some some 35 yards out.

The home side continued to press and when Matt Willis took a clearance kick on the full on 14 minutes, Brods recycled good quick ball from the resulting ruck which was fed to Adam Standeven who crossed after a superb 40 yard diagonal run.

Brid battled back but the Brods back row of Danny Vento, Oliver Akroyd and Ben Hoyle were in terrific form with Mark Vollans and Dale Gardiner also impressive ensuring their defence could not be broken.

Brods surged back and camped on the visitors line, McLoughlin, Ben Morill and Parkin all going close, and just before the break a great left wing move saw Adam Standeven release Matt Hoyle only for the winger's try to be dissallowed for a foot in touch.

There was clearly still work to do as Brods had to face the elements in the second half but Brid's fly half did not make 10 yards from the kick off, even with wind assistance, and that gave Brods an early moral victory which they built on by retaining possession.

They continued to dominate and though Fowler narrowly missed with a penalty attempt, Brods maintained the pressure even when they made a string of substitutions, and Bridlington resorted to a series of high tackles, with one such tackle on teenage fly half James Womersley resulting in a penalty which Fowler converted from 15 yards to stretch the lead to 11 points as the game moved into injury time.

Bridlington's late pressure came to nothing as Brods defended enthusiastically.
