Grimsby 11 - King Cross 1
(Yorkshire Four)
Cross made the long journey into Lincolnshire with a decimated squad and were soundly thrashed by a very impressive Grimsby outfit.

The early stages gave no indication of the carnage that would follow. After two well taken goals from the home sid
e, Cross pulled back with a deadly strike from Jamie Hothersall after great work from the influential Scott Whelan.

Grimsby then stepped up a gear and in the final five minutes of the half scored three superbly crafted goals to give the scoreline a lopsided look.

As the 10 men in green and yellow wilted in the heat, Grimsby added a further six goals to complete the rout.

Only a string of fine saves from Dan Hales prevented further humiliation.

Slazengers II 2 - Halifax Ladies II 2
(Yorkshire Four)

HALIFAX fought hard and twice hit back to earn a draw.

Slazengers scored in the first 15 minutes but strong passing and teamwork from Issy Pollard and Clare Waldron and a cross from Adele Daly resulted in a tidy goal for Emma Clarkson.

Slazengers attacked at the start of the second half but solid defence from Linda Clarkson, Nicola Boulton, and Beth Smith prevented them from scoring.

Slazengers sneaked a goal but Halifax fought back to equalise with a beautiful finish from Pollard.

Halifax Ladies III 2 - Leeds IV 1

Halifax secured their first win of the season in a hard fought encounter against a strong Leeds outfit.

Halifax had several players in unfamiliar positions but the defence was outstanding. With superb tackles from sweeper Angela Riley, saves from 'keeper Sarah Howard and a goalline clearance from Diane Holdsworth the home side managed to keep a clean sheet for the first half.

At the other end, good breaks from Beccy Greenwood and Katie Love kept the Leeds defenders busy.

In an amazing sequence of play, shots from Marie Whitehouse, Greenwood and Love were all blocked with the visiting 'keeper beaten.

The second half brought more sustained Leeds pressure and they scored from a penalty corner.

Leeds must have thought they were going home with the points but Halifax equalised through White-house and Love snatched a winner with seconds left.
