FC Halifax Town boss Jim Vince has had enough of trying to explain poor performances from his side.
For the second weekend running the Shaymen slipped quietly out of a major competition, going down 2-1 at Harrogate Railway in the FA Trophy.

Colin Daniel bagged a goal on his Town debut after Harrogate Railway had eased into a 2-0 lead.

But it was another game in which there were few positives for the manager or the travelling fans.

"People say it is the way I have done things," said Vince. "And I will take that because it is my job to take it.

"I am bitterly disappointed and am I sick of saying that.

"It is consistently the same messages after matches and I have had enough of it. I don't need it.

"You can persevere for so long with certain players but in the end you have to say maybe it is not quite right."

"There are no excuses and I guess it is my fault. It has to be. I manage the team and it's my responsibility.

"Clearly there is an issue, clearly there is something not quite right and things will have to be addressed.

"For our club, that performance is not acceptable."

As he had against Nantwich seven days earlier in the FA Cup, Vince pointed to some poor defending for his side's demise.

And he questioned the players' passion and commitment to the cause.

"It was shocking again," he said. "Defensively we were all at sea.

"I think there were too many players pointing the finger at each other saying 'it's your fault'.

"It is everyone's fault. Everyone needs to take responsibility and they didn't do that.

"I asked the question in the changing room 'Is it me? Is it something I am doing or something Nigel Jemson is doing?'

"They all said it is not me, so who is it?

"Players are not showing enough passion and commitment to a massive club like ours.
"The reason he plays at this club is so he can show the quality he has in his game.
"It is not just about running. It is about having the quality in possession and our ball retention was poor.
"Play like that and you lose the game.
"We were not good enough on Saturday and something has to give."
Town reject Ben Jones bagged the opener for Harrogate Railway but Vince clearly has no regrets about releasing him early in the campaign.
"He is not good enough for us," he said "But he showed on Saturday that he had the desire and willingness to stick it up us so we have egg on our faces.
"I like him as a player. He is not good enough to wear the Halifax shirt but he showed on Saturday that he doesn't care.
"He has knocked us out of the cup and we have to take that on the chin."
"May be a few players think all they have to do is turn up and win a game.

"One player told me he was working hard. I can get a Sunday league player to work hard.

i was stood behind the goal in the 2nd half and the only voices i heard on the pitch were harrogate players. no leadership or encouragement whatsoever. we just seem to accept defeat to easily. we need a stoney, hulmy, bushell type of character to get us going.

Is Jim Vince hallucinating? He refers to HX Town as a "massive" club.Sorry but in my 40 odd years of following the tribulations of the club the only thing "massive" was its debts.A reality check is needed.
