TAKE one newly promoted side which is on a scorching run.
Add one hugely talented team with real title credentials.
Sprinkle in a spicy bit of local rivalry and a cup final place up for grabs, and you have a tasty dish which should have Scammonden Road packed to the rafters on Sunday.
Since Barkisland were drawn at home to Elland in the semi-final of the Romida Sykes Cup, the anticipation has been steadily building for a fascinating game about which it can genuinely said is too close to call.
Not surprisingly, the rival skippers for the showdown are eagerly awaiting the start of hostilities, and home captain Paul Winrow is predicting an absorbing clash which he feels his on song Barkisland boys have a genuine chance of edging.
"I'm really looking forward to it and it looks like it will be a very even game," said Winrow.
"Elland are a very good side as everyone knows but we are at full strength and the only selection problems we have had are in deciding who to leave out, and if there's a bit of dampness in the wicket that will help our bowlers."
The Barkisland captain added that many members had remarked that a packed ground would bring back memories of the old days in the Halifax League when the club used to regularly host the Parish Cup final.
"If the atmosphere is as good as it was on those occasions it will be a great day," he said.
"As long as it doesn't rain, it should be well worth waiting for."
His opposite number Gary Jakeman expressed similar sentiments and is relishing the prospect of locking horns with a side who currently lie in a buoyant third place in the Huddersfield League Premiership table, a place above Jakeman's men.
"They are a good side as their league position shows and of course I'm looking forward to what should be a great game," said the Elland skipper.
And he revealed that Elland, who have no injury worries, were hopeful of having Yorkshire ace Ajmal Shahzad available for the game, which could be a telling factor.
Jakeman added that he felt the fast developing crop of youngsters at the club had played a big part in the cup run and it would be a great day for the Hullen Edge outfit as a whole if they could clinch a cup final spot.
"Three years ago we set our stall out to bring our youngsters through. They have developed through that time and it would be a great reward for them to help us to a final.
"We feel that on our day we are the best team in the league but Barkisland are a good side and it should be very interesting."
And Jakeman was keen to add that Elland's second and third teams had also progressed to the last four, with the third team hosting Illingworth on Sunday in their own semi final and the seconds playing their last four game next week, and he said a hat trick of wins would be a great boost to the club as a whole.
But it is Scammonden Road on Sunday where most of the attention will be focussed.
Key men for the home side are Winrow himself with the bat, along with opening bowlers Tinashe Panyangara and Love Ablish, while for Elland Ryan Robinson and Richard Blakey are the best known names in a generally high quality line up.
It has the makings of a thriller and the ground should be buzzing by the 1.30 start, so watch this space.
