DELIGHTED Illingworth clinched the Burmah Oil Club Championship Trophy on Saturday without bowling a ball.
The first team's game at home to Ben Rhydding was washed out as was the second team's game at Beckwithshaw, and though closest rivals Kirkstall Educational looked set to steal a march on them when they managed to get in a reduced overs game against Green Lane, a shock defeat means Kirkstall are now 14 behind with just 12 points still to play for and cannnot catch Illingworth.
The Jammy Green side are already promoted from Division Three but are now aiming to clinch the championship next Saturday when they take on second placed Thackley.
Illingworth are six points clear and need only to avoid defeat to take the title, a feat which would complete an extraordinary season for the club as the second team have already won their title, the third team are well set for a league and cup double, while the under 17s won the Collinson Cup and the under 11s the league.
