POPULAR centre Craig Emmerson has sealed a return to Ovenden Park for the forthcoming National Three (North) campaign.
Emmerson, who left Halifax at the end of the 2006/07 campaign, spent last season at Yorkshire neighbours Morley but expressed a desire to see out his glittering career at his hometown club.
The 36-year-old started at Halifax at the age of 16 and had a spell in the top flight with Leeds Tykes as well as turning out for Harlequins, Gloucester and West Hartlepool.
"Craig wanted to finish his career at Halifax and he is willing to come back and fight for his place," said Halifax coach Rhys Morgan.
"He still has a lot to offer in terms of his defensive game and his attitude. I believe having Craig Emmerson back will have a tremendous impact on the club."
Morgan has also shaken hands on a new deal with talented winger-turned-flanker Dan Solomi while luring prop Paul Turner away from last season's National Two champions Otley.
"Bringing a player of Paul Turner's quality to the club is a massive coup for us," added Morgan.
"He didn't get much playing time last season, mainly coming on from the bench, but he was involved with Yorkshire which proves he has some pedigree.
"One of the problems we had last season was establishing a solid front row early on, but with the likes of Paul Turner, Adam Blades and Rob Townsend to call on, we have a very strong line up which should give us a platform to build from.
"Dan has shaken hands with me and told me he will be there when training starts, so that is obviously a massive bonus.
"People like Dan Solomi and Martin Smith, who is chomping at the bit to start pre-season training, are crucial to Halifax.
"Naturally we shout from the rooftops when we bring new players in, but these are the guys who are Halifax through and through and bring some pride to the club."
