THERE was home success in the revived Halifax Trophy at the weekend when West End man Matthew Godfrey carried off the trophy.
After a top quality day's golf in glorious weather conditions, Godfrey's gross score of 69 earned him victory by a single shot from Ogden junior Tim Pollard, who edged Bradley Hall ace Andy Whitworth into third place on a countback.

rs also dominated the net prizes, with Lee Tomlinson taking first place with 66 and Robert Beattie and Nathan Raynor a shot back as they both carded net 67s, Beattie taking the honours on a countback.
The revival of the Halifax Championship proved a major success with a superb entry of 65 golfers from six different clubs competing for the prestigious title.
West End also staged a Seniors pairs event last Thursday which attracted 46 pairs.
And again there was home success with Mike Leishman and playing partner Cliff East of Silkstone taking the honours with 44 points in the Stableford competition.
