A TEXTBOOK birdie on the last by Bradley Park club president Roger Pearson proved enough to give him and team mate Trevor Williams victory in the Am Am section of yesterday's Halifax and Huddersfield Alliance event on their own course.
That lifted them to 41 points, enough to pip Castlefields pair Richard Badrock and Fred Leek on a countback.
"Roger dominated the scoring but we dovetailed well and it was that great birdie on the last that made the difference," said Williams.
Inde
pendent Fixby pair Mike Dempsey and Peter Newey were left rueing a three putt from not far away on the last and ended on 40 points with Meltham pair Neil Paxman and David Baxter.
The Pro Am victory went to Hebden Bridge pro David Astin and Andy Cryer with 38 points.
That earned them a one point win over Ryburn's Chris Thewlis and James Washington and also Outlane professional Dave Chapman and Nick Hirst.
