Alliance entries sought

THE Halifax and Huddersfield Alliance's Ronnie Parkinson Memorial Trophy will go ahead as planned at Ryburn GC next Tuesday, September 9 despite a shortage of entries.
The organisation's opening fixture, a mixed greensome due to be played at Hanging Heaton yesterday, was cancelled due to a lack of entries.
However, officials said that though there had also been a disappointing number of entries for the Ronnie Parkinson Trophy, given the Alliance's ties with Ryburn, particularly through Ronnie Parkinson and the recently deceased Roger Heap, it was felt appropriate the fixture should go ahead.
In view of the situation, entries will be taken up to the day of the event.
On a more general matter, six members of the Alliance executive met at Outlane GC last week and agreed it was clear several items regarding how the Alliance operates, promotes and finances itself requires fundamental changes in order to ensure its future growth and success.
The executive said they will be writing to each club individually highlighting these proposed changes.
