Woman's World: Let all your stress drift away

THERE'S a mood of pessimism and gloom in the air at the moment that is influencing everyone.
During a recession businesses struggle and unemployment rises while fashion, music and creativity take a nosedive. In other words the whole of our culture seems to go into a recession.
Doctors are reporting increasing numbers of men and women with problems such as anxiety and depression.
If you are feeling a bit down as a result of what's going on in the economy, the advice is not to panic, see your GP and do everything you can to relieve your stress and tension.
One way to lift your mood is to have a massage. Hands-on treatments such as massage offer the ideal solution to the stress of modern living because, after a treatment, you tend to feel revitalised, regenerated, more optimistic and more at harmony with the world.
The latest massage to arrive in Calderdale uses water to help you drift away and experience the ultimate out-of-body experience.
Close your eyes and imagine you are floating on a bed of warm water and every inch of your body is being massaged without you having to turn over.
Basically that's what the Hydrotherm massage system offers.
You lie face up on two large cushions filled with warm water – one under your back and shoulders and one under your legs.
Not only is it the most comfortable massage you are every likely to experience but it offers the perfect spinal alignment, and the warm water softens the tissues helping your body to relax better so you get a deeper, more effective treatment.
The cushions are kept at 37 degrees throughout the one-hour treatment and can help ease any joint and muscle stiffness.
Another added benefit is that the treatment uses the client's own body weight as the source of pressure and this enables the therapist to give a unique three-dimensional massage.
She can slide her hands under, over and around your body in an uninterrupted motion.
Twenty-five-year-old Hannah Armitage who works at Eclipse Beauty in Halifax Road, Ripponden, says everyone who has tried Hydrotherm loves it because it is so comfortable.
"It's a really indulgent massage and lots of people relax so much so that they fall asleep. The hardest bit is getting on to the bed."
Hannah, who lives in Sowerby Bridge, says while it is a deep massage the therapist doesn't have to exert much pressure and can get to everywhere on the body a lot quicker.
Eclipse owner Heidi Holdsworth spotted Hydro-therm in a trade magazine, tried it and says it is the best massage she has ever had.
I would probably agree. It's a pleasant way to spend an hour and you certainly feel the benefits afterwards.
Hannah blends her own oils for a treatment so you can choose a relaxing or revitalising blend. The oils feed your skin and continue working long after you leave the salon.
Eclipse, which moved into the old Lloyds Bank three months ago, is offering a Hydrotherm massage for £30 until the end of October. The normal price is £40. For more details ring Eclipse on 01422 825374.
